GSA Science Policy Fellowship

The Geological Society of America (GSA) is seeking applicants for its Science Policy Fellowship Program. The fellowship provides recent MS or PhD recipients the opportunity to work in the GSA Washington Office for one year. The fellow works with the GSA Director for Geoscience Policy to participate in a range of science-policy activities. The fellow will attend congressional meetings and hearings, agency briefings, seminars ,and coalition sessions and will develop communication methods to disseminate this information to GSA members. The fellow will also participate in GSA programs, including the Geology and Public Policy Committee.

The fellow will receive a competitive stipend and healthcare stipend. Funds are also available for fellowship-related travel. The start date is flexible, and could start as early as 1 September.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV/resume, writing sample, and list of 3 references to Kasey White at kwhite@geosociety.org.


Consideration of applications will begin 16 May.

ELS2014: REMINDER: call for abstracts

Dear Distinguished Colleagues,
we are very pleased to inform you that the call for abstracts is still open for a few days.
If you are interested in submitting abstracts and suggesting any ideas to the various scientific symposia, workshops and other Conference events you are welcome to do it until 11 May 2014.
Please, submit your abstracts within 11 May 2014 through the appropriate window available on Conference website.
The subsequent deadlines are as follows:
2 June 2014: Deadline for abstracts acceptance
30 June 2014: Deadline for payment of early registration fee
31 August 2014: Deadline for payment of regular registration fee
After 31 August 2014 and on-site: payment of late registration fee
22-25 September 2014: Conference

Peruvian National Representative will officially launch of the YES Network in the Geological Society of Peru

This May 14th the peruvian national representative of the YES network (Sheyla Palomino), will deliver a lecture at the Geological Society of Peru (GSP) for the official presentation of the YES network and then present some of her work experience.
