Jobs: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Experimental Petrology

Two post-doc positions are available for a project dealing with the accretion and differentiation of the Earth. The scope of the project is broad and the exact direction of each individual PDRA’s research will be decided by agreement between the successful candidates and Bernie Wood. The posts are funded by the European Research Council.

Requirements:
You must have a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related discipline and experience of high pressure methods (piston-cylinder and/or multi-anvil) and microanalytical techniques (electron microprobe and/or LA-ICPMS). Knowledge of Laser Ablation ICP-MS analysis and the application of thermodynamic calculations to geochemical and petrological problems is desirable.

 You will perform experiments and microanalysis of experimental products under the direction of B. J. Wood. You are also expected to contribute to the writing of scientific manuscripts describing the results of the research.

 The successful applicants will have an option to engage in teaching.  This may include lectures and small-group teaching of undergraduates and graduate students.  There is also scope for a PDRA to supervise Masters projects.
