Dear
Colleagues,
We are
pleased to invite you to the Fourth Forum for Young Permafrost Scientists to be
held in Yakutsk, Russia from 25 June to 10 July 2015. This event will
commemorate the 200th birthday of Alexander von Middendorff and is open to
young researchers under the age of 35 years, including undergraduates, graduate
students, and postdoctoral fellows.
The
previous Forums were hosted by the Melnikov Permafrost Institute in 2013, 2010,
and 2008 and brought together young researchers from around the world (http://mpi.ysn.ru/index.php/en/fyps.html).
The Forum
for Young Permafrost Scientists will include
the
Geocryological Conference held from 25–28 June 2015 and
the
Geocryological Field Workshop from 30 June to 10 July 2015.
In addition
to traditional topics, the 2015 Forum will focus on emerging new areas of
geocryological research:
• Regional
and historical geocryology
•
Permafrost geothermics and thermal physics
•
Periglacial processes and forms
• Landscape
dynamics in permafrost regions
•
Permafrost geochemistry
•
Permafrost hydrology and hydrogeology
• Climate
change and permafrost evolution
•
Greenhouse gases and gas hydrates
•
Permafrost microbiology
• Remote
sensing of permafrost
• Stability
of engineering structures on permafrost
Languages:
Russian and English
Paper
presentation: oral and poster
Time for
presentation: max. 15 min.
